In-Depth Review | Resume
Viper.com
Founded in 1996 by HR professionals, Resume Viper has distributed
more than 12 million resumes worldwide since its inception.
Unlike Resume Rabbit which is a resume posting
site, Resume Viper is a distributor - your resume is sent
straight to the email inboxes of "invitation only"
recruiters and employers. Three available packages let you
decide who gets your resume, with their Premium Package
making your document available to more than 12,000
direct-hiring employers, specialty/executive recruiters and
general recruiters.
Here's How It Works
On the landing page, you're first encouraged to select the
industries and states that you would like to work in, to see
how many recruiters and employers have opted in to receive
resumes in those categories. Follow the instructions from there
to create your password-protected account.
You'll find three packages to choose from,
with pricing points at $49.99, $69.99 and $99.99. The
least expensive Standard Package distributes your
resume to general recruiters -- 3,100 and counting. The
Maximum Package send your resume to both general
recruiters and executive recruiters (totaling 6,700 and
counting). And for those who want to burst onto the scene
big time, you've got the Premium Package which
distributes your resume to general and executive
recruiters, as well as direct-hiring companies (totaling
12,800 and counting).
Enter your employment profile, resume, cover letter, and
employment preferences. Search for and de-select any companies
that you don't want receiving your resume (for example, your
current or previous employers). Let 'er rip. Most distributions
are completed in 4 hours.
You'll receive a detailed resume distribution report with
information on who, when and how many companies looked at your
resume. You can access detailed information on those companies,
and communicate directly with recruiters and hiring officials
via the Viper's confidential messaging system.
Here's What We Liked
-
Resumes are never sent unsolicited. This
is important. The recipients of your resume -- both
recruiters and employers -- have opted in to the
system. These are companies that have voluntarily
requested to receive resumes from job seekers in your
industry and region.
- Resume distribution targeted by industry and
geography. You select your industry (up to 8), then
pick the state you live in (or better yet, want to
live in), and they'll distribute your resume to those
recruiters who make placements in those states.
- A "de-select" option allows you to eliminate
specific companies from receiving your resume. Like, for
example, the your current employer.
- A 24/7 online activity report details exactly where
your resume was sent, who saw it and when they saw it.
What's more, you are provided the name of the contact
person who got your resume, as well as the phone, fax and
mailing address of each company who received it.
- A confidential messaging system lets you communicate
directly with recruiters and the hiring officials from
direct-hire companies.
- Beyond the initial distribution, the Viper will
save and make your resume available to employers for 6
months at no additional charge.
- Toll-free customer service. Yes, an actual human
being. And a courteous one, at that.
- Guarantee: If you don't get a positive response
within 30 days, they'll re-distribute your resume free of
charge.
Resume Viper Review - The Wrap
Up
The Tampa Tribune ranked Resume Viper the #1 Resume
Distribution Service on the Internet. We think we know why:
impressive database of recruiters and direct-hiring companies
that have opted in to the system, lots of extras like their
24/7 activity report, toll-free customer service, and
satisfaction guarantee. We also like the fact that the Better
Business Bureau gives the company a BBB rating of A- on a scale
of A+ to F. We believe that speaks volumes with respect to the
company's straightforward business practices and commitment to
their clients.
While no resume distribution service can guarantee a cushy
job offer, a good distribution service can be a valuable part
of an overall job search strategy. We find Resume Viper at the top of their
game and the top of their industry, and have no problem
giving it our highest recommendation.
